I'm guiding 10 people along the world-famous Coast to Coast from the 25th June to the 8th July 2017, in conjunction with Coast to Coast Packhorse, who've arranged accommodation and baggage transfer

Thoughts so far... The Lake District section (first 60 miles) is a strenuous walk across mountains; you need good navigation skills; several people we've seen have been relying solely on Wainwright's book to navigate, only to get lost; Wainwright's Coast to Coast book is a good guidebook and an interesting read, but is not sufficient to get you across the Lakeland mountains safely - you need OS maps and a compass as well, plus the right clothing and kit for full day walks across the mountains. See more musings on Day 14 when I had finished the walk.
